The Realism Period Of The Novel The Tales Of Huckleberry...
With the rise of the Realism period brought in the notion of seeing and reading what is truly happening in the world. This era was brought forth as a counter to the Romantic period of writing which focused more on the imaginative. The writing belief of the Realism period involved showing the truth while avoiding implausible, exotic, and supernatural elements that where seen in the era s past. Often times this is used to show the ugliness of society specifically the middle class, who is often viewed as ones trying to live above their means. During this era many prominent writers found there calling ranging from Mark twain who wrote stories like ââ¬Å"The Tales of Huckleberry Finâ⬠to Gustave Flaurbert who wrote stories like ââ¬Å"Madam Bovaryâ⬠. This story is Flaurbert s way of showing his disdain in the rise of the middle class. With the belief that the middle class where imitator s that wanted to live the lavish lifestyle of the upperclassman. In the story the reader is introduced to three important characters in Elder Bovary, Heloise Bovary, and Emma Bovary. These three women show Flaubert s disdain for the people of the lower and middle classes tried to act as if they were apart of the upper class by any means possible. Elder Bovary is the mother to one of the first main character named Charles Bovary. She is described as wanting to live vicariously through her son ââ¬Å"Isolated within her own life, she projected all her thin, broken fantasies and dreams onto this childââ¬
